Forums next week to feature Ogden City Council, mayoral candidates

Ogden Mayoral candidates participate in a forum May 8, 2023. Mayoral candidates are set to have another forum July 19 while City Council candidates will have a forum July 17.A pair of forums are set to give Ogden voters a closer look at who’s looking to represent them.
Both forums are a joint venture between the Weber County League of Women Voters, Ogden’s NAACP chapter and LUPEC of Ogden.
The first forum is set for Monday at the Pleasant Valley Library, 5568 Adams Avenue, and will feature candidates in the two contested City Council districts. District 4 candidates Sebastian Benitz, Dave Graf, Steve VanWagoner, Alexander Castagno and Austin Raymond will speak from 6-7:15 p.m.
At Large C candidates including Levi Anderson, Katie Matheson, Laura Gale, Shaun Myers and John Thompson will speak from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Julez Garcia, who has filed for the position, has also been invited, but fliers for the event state there has been no response from Garcia.
A mayoral candidate forum is set for Wednesday, July 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Youth Impact Ogden, 2305 Grant Avenue. It will feature Chris Barragan, Taylor Knuth, Bart Blair, Oscar Mata, Angel Castillo, Ben Nadolski and Jon Greiner.
Both forums are open to the public.
