Dozens of new artists are set to be on display next week in Ogden.

The 18th annual Ogden Arts Festival, set for June 10-11 at Union Station, is set to feature more than 100 art vendors including several that are new to the event, according to festival director Danielle Bendinelli.

“We are one of the only events that takes place in the Ogden-area that brings in regional artists,” she said. “It’s pretty spectacular for the Ogden area to get to see new artists. This year we have 60 artists that were not participating last year.”

The rain-or-shine event will feature both activities and performance art opportunities. Two of the new additionas will be a spoken word stage and a “Busker Bus.”

“There’s three different performance stages — two for music that includes dance, band, buskers and chamber music,” Bendinelli said. “Then we also have a spoken-word stage as well that will be for poetry and story telling and improv. The ‘Busker Bus’ will be out there. Lots of cultural entertainment and kids activities. This year we have bike valets so people can peddle on up and park their bikes with the Ogden Bicycle Collective.”

She said there’s also been growth behind the scenes that will aid the festival into the future. The all-volunteer committee has grown from eight to 14 members in the past year, allowing for “new insight, new change.”

Bendinelli said she is concerned about the possibility of inclement weather, but she’s hopeful for a great two days.

“Rain or shine, the event’s going to happen and I think it will be a great feel and vibe for families,” she said. “The last couple of years, the weather was like 100 degrees outside. It’s looking to be mid-70s or 80s, so I think that will be lovely. That way people can sit around, hang out and watch entertainment.”

In the meantime, the festival is still looking for volunteers from among the public, including local youth. Anyone interested can sign up on the festival’s website.
