Ogden Twilight starting to announce performers, some shows sold out
OGDEN — The 2023 installment of Ogden Twilight is coming and four of the planned performers have already been announced — M83, Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso and Cigarettes After Sex. According to ticket-seller 24tix.com, individual tickets are sold out for the M83, Bon Iver and Cigarettes After Sex performances with tickets still available to Sylvan Esso. Six more shows, for 10 total, are planned for the 2023 Ogden Twilight summer concert series.
“My nerves are shot. Demand for these shows has gone off the charts,” reads a post from Tuesday on the Ogden Twilight Facebook page.
Last year and in prior years, organizers of the concert series held at the Ogden Amphitheater announced the bulk of the shows at once, in March last year and in April in 2021. This year, though, announcements of the four acts have come one-by-one, apparently as they’ve been confirmed. What’s more, season passes are now on sale even with the six other performers yet to be announced.
“As you know we’re just little fish in the great big world of music and sometimes we can’t control all of our announcement timing and need to align some of our announcements to coincide with the artist’s bigger overall tour schedules,” reads a Jan. 5 Ogden Twilight Facebook post, referencing the relatively early announcements. Concert series reps didn’t immediately respond to a Standard-Examiner query seeking comment.
The Bon Iver show, set for Aug. 9, was announced on the Ogden Twilight Facebook page on Monday and Cigarettes After Sex, set for Aug. 23, was announced Feb. 21. The performances by M83, set for May 6, and Sylvan Esso, set for Aug. 22, were announced on Jan. 10.
Organizers acknowledged that several performers in the series have yet to be announced, though season passes are on sale, “but we book pretty consistently each year,” reads a post. “Hopefully you’ll be happy. We’re really proud of the work so far. We hope you will be too.”
Sylvan Esso peformed at Ogden Twilight in 2018 while M83 and Bon Iver have been on the series’ “wish list” of performers. Cigarettes After Sex has been “selling out arenas in bigger cities.”
The M83 and Cigarettes After Sex performances come between shows the groups have on different dates in Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon, according to Ticketmaster and the Cigarettes After Sex website. The Bon Iver show comes betwen performances in Bonner, Montana, and Boise, Idaho, according to Pitchfork.
The Sylvan Esso show comes between performances in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Troutdale, Oregon, according to the musical duo’s website.
