BRIGHAM CITY — Imagine getting a 75-inch TV or a freezer full of beef for $2.

That’s exactly what the winners received at this year’s Peach Days Raffle Fundraiser, put on by the Kiwanis Club of Brigham City.

Just for buying a $2 raffle ticket, Sandra Nelson won a brand new freezer filled with Maddox beef. She also won kitchen goods donated by Anvil Appliances and Cabinet & Mill.

Susan Hall got to take home a new PS5 gaming system and a 75-inch TV donated by Gillies Funeral Chapel and Herbert’s Silver Lining Restoration.

Alex Unander won a Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 24 smoker donated by Brigham City Ace Hardware, and Kohen Barber is happily jumping on his new trampoline, donated by Skywalker Trampolines.

“This is an annual event the Kiwanis Club of Brigham City holds in conjunction with Peach Days,” said the club’s media specialist, Kendal Jensen. “It’s a really popular event. In the past, we’ve given out one prize, but this year, we did four big prizes and the winners were all so excited.”

The club starts selling the raffle tickets around September, Jensen said, although next year, the goal is to start selling them in August.

“Anyone can purchase a ticket. You don’t have to be a Brigham City resident,” she said. “On the back of the ticket, there are a ton of freebies and discounts, so everybody gets something. On the last day of Peach Days, we get a big ticket roller out at 10 p.m. and draw the winners. It’s a big, fun event and a lot of people stick around for it.”

The proceeds for the raffle tickets go toward several different causes, Jensen said, including the Boys & Girls Clubs, Brigham City School District, scholarships and more.

The mission of the Kiwanis Club is to help children thrive, prosper and grow. There are nearly 9,000 clubs around the globe. This year, Brigham City Kiwanis Club received an award for being the fastest-growing and largest club in the state.

“I’m not sure of the exact number of members we have off the top of my head, but we have about 30 to 40 come to the meeting every Wednesday at noon,” Jensen said.

Every year, the club holds several fundraisers to benefit kids.

“We hold an Easter Egg Hunt every year and a big holiday event with Santa,” Jensen said. “We also give out the Hope of America Award, which is given to elementary school students based on academic and club involvement at their school, and we do a Teacher of the Year award as well.”

Jensen said she hopes even more people will consider joining the Brigham City Kiwanis Club.

“It’s a great organization and a great way to connect with other people,” she said.
