Weber County Animal Services is inviting residents to take advantage of a program for the relocation, or rehoming, of pets in the event that they’re no longer able to care for them.

“Rehome Your Pet” is an online listing platform for people in Weber County seeking alternatives to surrendering their pets. According to a news release from the department, Weber County Animal Services is currently operating above its normal capacity; as such, the rehoming program has helped the shelter maintain its no-kill status.

Those seeking to find new living arrangements for their pets can take advantage of the program by visiting the shelter’s website and filling out a submission form. Pet and ownership info is required for listing, along with a photograph of any animals.

All submissions will be reviewed by Weber County Animal Services staff, per the release. Upon acceptance, pet listings will remain live for 30 days to give pets a better shot at finding new homes.

The shelter said submissions of litters and other breeder activity is prohibited and will not be accepted. It was further stated that the shelter won’t take responsibility for the transfer of pet ownership through the program.
