Authorities, including the Weber County Sheriff's Office, investigate a fatal crash along the Roy-West Haven border on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.

WEBER COUNTY — One person is dead as a result of an automobile crash occurring at the intersection of 4000 South and Midland Drive on the Roy-West Haven border Tuesday night.

Per a release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:08 p.m. after a green Chevrolet Blazer and a white Tesla collided at the intersection. The Blazer was traveling south on Midland Drive where the Tesla was waiting to make a left turn from the northbound lane onto westbound 4000 South. The Tesla reportedly attempted the left turn in front of the Blazer, which subsequently crashed into its front passenger-side door.

Two adult women and an infant were traveling in the Tesla. According to the release, one of the woman — who was riding in the front passenger seat — died as a result of her injuries while receiving medical attention on the scene. The other woman and the infant reportedly are in good condition after being transported to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the four occupants of the Blazer are reported to be in good condition after having traveled to local hospitals in personal vehicles as a precautionary measure. In the wake of the accident, the driver of the Blazer remained on the scene where they cooperated with the initial investigation, which resulted in the temporary closure of the intersection.

Per the sheriff’s office, impairment is not considered to be a factor in the incident as of now. Additional details have not been released.

Sgt. Terance Lavely of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office told the Standard-Examiner that the collision is currently under investigation, including by the Weber-Metro CRASH Team, and noted that the identities of the deceased woman and those involved aren’t being made public at this time.
