OGDEN VALLEY — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team was called after a vehicle crashed into Pineview Reservoir on Sunday night.
Per a social media release, rescuers responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle had no occupants and no injuries were reported.
“Using exceptional teamwork by the climb team and support personnel, the DJI Flycart 30 was utilized to transport heavy gear up and down the cliff to the outstanding dive team to assist them in doing what they do best,” the release stated.
The DJI Flycart 30 is an aerial delivery drone.
A Weber County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told the Standard-Examiner on Tuesday that while fast-moving or heavy vehicles have previously gone into the reservoir from roads in the area, including Trapper’s Loop, this vehicle rolled into the water from a roadside turnout area. The vehicle reportedly reached a depth of 90 feet underwater.
Police noted that the operator received a medical assessment on the scene but could not confirm whether the vehicle had been retrieved from the reservoir. An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
