A townhome that was under construction was severely damaged in a fire on the morning of August 3, 2025.

OGDEN — A fire early Sunday morning burned a portion of a townhome project that was still under construction.

According to a press release from the Ogden City Fire Department, the blaze was reported around 12:37 a.m. Sunday in the 400 west block of 12th Street.

“Upon arrival, units discovered smoke and flames coming from the roof of a townhome under construction,” the release said. “Firefighters acted swiftly and aggressively and had water on the structure within minutes. The townhome was unoccupied; firefighters protected the adjoining buildings to ensure the fire did not spread. Due to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the crews on scene, the fire was successfully extinguished.”

Ogden Fire Chief Mike Slater told the Standard-Examiner that no evacuations were needed from area buildings and the entire impacted structure was unoccupied.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, however, the release notes that damages were still high.

“The Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire,” the release said. “The structures have been secured, and the initial damage estimates are approximately $1,600,000.”

Responders to the fire included the Ogden City Fire Department and Weber Fire District.
