WEBER COUNTY — The Weber County Sheriff’s office is mourning the passing of one of its own.

On Thursday, a post on the Weber County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page announced the passing of Cpl. Brandon Bills, who had been with the department since 2006.

“Corporal Bills served the Weber County Sheriff’s Office with dedication and integrity,” the post said. “He was a mentor to many, a steady presence to all, and a leader whose example shaped the culture of the teams he served on. Brandon cared deeply about the people around him. He consistently demonstrated compassion in difficult situations, offered guidance when others needed direction, and supported his coworkers in ways that often went unseen but were always felt. His dedication to this Office, to Weber County, and to this community is something we will never forget.”

The post does not specify a cause of death.

Lt. Colby Ryan of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office told the Standard-Examiner on Sunday that Bills passed away last Monday while off-duty.

The Facebook post notes that services will be held at the Huntsville meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 277 S 7400 E, Huntsville, Utah.

Viewings are planned for Friday, Dec. 12 (6-8 p.m.) and Saturday, Dec. 13, (noon-1 p.m.) with the funeral also occurring Saturday at 1 p.m.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who served alongside him,” the Facebook post concludes.

Starting at $4.32/week.
