OGDEN — Union Station, having just entered its second century last year, will be receiving some infrastructure upgrades to match the new era.

Recent posts on the Ogden Union Station Facebook page have noted that the building will be closed next week for “urgent electrical repair.” The station building, museums and offices will be closed Feb. 17-21.

Museums at Union Station Administrator Hope Eggett told the Standard-Examiner on Monday the repairs come down to the age of the building.

“Our building is 100 years old, as we are all aware, and that means periodically we do have to do regular updates to our electrical system, as well as some of the other systems in our building,” she said. “In this case, the electrical work that’s being done is going to make it a little bit safer for employees as well as ensure our building is more sustainable for the future going forward.”

According to one social media post, the specific work being done relates to the replacement of the building’s main electrical transformer and switchgear.

Normal operations will resume Feb. 22 at 11 a.m.

Starting at $4.32/week.
