According to a press release from the Ogden City Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the mobile home park located at 1065 Wall Ave. around 5:26 a.m. for a structure fire.

“Upon arrival, units discovered smoke and flames coming from the home with reports that someone was inside,” the release said. “Firefighters acted swiftly, entering the structure to fight the fire and search for the occupant. The occupant was located and pulled out of the structure immediately, medical crews were ready and transported the occupant to a local hospital. A short time later that occupant succumbed to their injuries at that local hospital. The fire was extinguished a short time later.”

The Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire while initial damage estimates are around $100,000.

Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Mike Slater told the Standard-Examiner that, as of Tuesday afternoon, the investigation was continuing, but it is not believed the fire was the result of foul play.

Additionally, he said the occupant who passed away was the sole occupant of the residence.

“I just want to send our love and condolences to the family for their loss,” Slater said. “Our hearts go out to them. And I want to commend our firefighters for a quick response. They were there within minutes, had the occupant pulled out of the house within minutes, so they gave that individual any chance of survival they had. We just want ot commend them and tell them thank you and share our condolences with the family.

Slater said this was the first fatal fire that Ogden has experienced in 2025.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

The press release noted the response included 26 firefighters from the Ogden City Fire Department and North View Fire District.
