Davis County Surveyor Max Elliott has submitted his letter of resignation, Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson announced during Tuesday’s County Commissioner meeting.

Stevenson said the resignation is effective Sept. 4, and he told the Standard-Examiner on Wednesday that Elliott would serve through the entire day.

“I think that it’s kind of a happy and sad day for Max,” Stevenson said at the commission meeting. “He’s been around a lot of years … more years than a lot of us maybe have been alive … so (it’s) been a great time to be able to work with him and will be fun to go through the process of having that position replaced through the party.”

According to Davis County GOP Chair Don Guymon, a special county convention will be held prior to Aug. 13 and details are still being worked on.
