The average now sits at $4.04 per gallon, eclipsing the $4 mark for the first time since June 15.

The average is up 41 cents per gallon since July 6 after it had fallen to $3.63 per gallon, the lowest since March 16.

“Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in nearly every state over the last week, as continued escalations between the U.S. and Iran, renewed Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, and fresh Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries combined to keep upward pressure on both crude and refined product markets,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a release accompanying the survey. “However, a weekend pullback in hostilities offered some relief, with oil prices opening sharply lower Sunday, suggesting the pace of increases at the pump may moderate in the days ahead. For now, motorists should expect prices to remain elevated, but the intensity of further gains will depend heavily on how the geopolitical situation develops in the coming week.”

According to the survey, the cheapest Ogden station was $3.89 per gallon while the most expensive was $4.39 per gallon.

Statewide, the average was up 15.3 cents per gallon to $4.11 per gallon, while nationally, the average was up 10.8 cents per gallon to $4.06 per gallon.

The national average price of diesel is $5.255 per gallon, up 17.8 cents per gallon from a week ago.
