According to Peterson, the driver of the Subaru was heading west on 30th Street, and upon reaching Porter Avenue, another vehicle crossed 30th Street on Porter heading north.

The driver of the Subaru veered to avoid hitting the car, lost control and crashed into the house on the northwest corner of the intersection, Peterson said.

No injuries, other than an abrasion to a child caused by a seat belt, according to the driver, were reported.

“And the (other) car just drove off, apparently, so that other driver never even stopped,” Peterson told the Standard-Examiner.

Peterson said he manages the property for the owner, and that the house was recently vacated about two days ago when the tenant moved out.

Peterson estimated about $250 to $300 in damages to the home.

“Obviously, the car toasted its radiator,” Peterson said. “The house seems to be doing OK, except for we’ve got to secure some posts to the ground now. It shifted the porch thing over about a foot and a half, the posts, and knocked the railing off.”

Peterson said he probably wouldn’t get insurance involved because of the amount.

“So the driver’s insurance will take care of (the vehicle). We’ll get this squared up,” he said.
