State laws have a direct effect on the lives of Utahns, and it is felt in every community. The State House Districts are small enough that our reps can feel very close to the community they represent, because they are our neighbors. I want to help make my community and the state a healthier, happier, and safer environment for everyone who lives here.

2. What unique qualities, attributes, skills, and experiences do you possess that make you the best candidate in this race?

I don’t really have any special qualities, skills, or experiences that make me a great politician. I’m just a regular guy that sees a lack of accountability in the state legislature, and running for office is a way I can try to make a difference. I solve problems for a living, so that may be a skill that can transfer to a certain degree. I also believe strongly in personal integrity, which I think the legislature needs more of.

3. Please explain your priorities if elected, as well as why you believe you are uniquely capable of achieving those priorities.

My priorities are (among others):

• Restoring the Great Salt Lake to a healthy level as soon as possible
• Strengthening our public school system and making sure public money stays in public schools.
• Reigning in the legislature’s consolidation of power and restoring checks and balances that have been weakened by the current members.

4. Please describe how you view the importance of compromise in politics and provide an example from your own experiences that highlights your perspective.

Compromise is essential in politics. That’s how it was designed. We are constantly being pushed into separate corners by media, algorithms, and the powers that benefit from us fighting each other. It doesn’t have to be like that. I will work with good faith members of any party to find practical solutions to real problems. In my work, I try to make data driven decisions that are as objective as possible.

5. How will you balance the views of the vocal public, your political party, and your own understanding and knowledge as an elected representative?

I won’t really consider the position of my political party when seeking feedback. Ultimately, I will consider what I believe to be best for my constituents as I consider legislation. There may be vocal opposition, and I will sincerely consider it, but my priority will be the well being of my constituents every time.
