Jeffrey Ostler is a Constitution candidate for the Senate District 7 seat. Below are his responses to a six-question survey sent to him by the Standard-Examiner. The Standard-Examiner made an attempt to contact each candidate involved in a competitive race in Weber and Davis counties.
1. Why is the position you are running for important?
I am running for Utah Senate District 7 (North Davis County (from Centerville to South Weber) and part of Morgan County). This is a very important race to see who can correct some serious problems in Utah Government.
2. What unique qualities, attributes, skills, and experiences do you possess that make you the best candidate in this race?
Utah is the 2nd most corrupt state in the nation within Utah State Government. I have been watching and auditing this for 35 years now. I ran for Utah State Treasurer in 1992 to get Utah back to a Constitutional Honest money system of Gold and Silver, (instead of worthless fiat paper money) which robs the people of their property through inflation. Utah has not honored Article 1 Section 10: “No state shall make anything but Gold and Silver in payment of Debts, nor emit bills of Credit (checks)”. This is a very sore and grievous sin against God, who established the Constitution by the hands of wise men (& women) whom He raised up. This is the whole reason why the Constitutional Convention met in 1787 to solve the problem of British scrip (fiat paper money) did not work for the colonists and the founders of the United States of America. “Fiat” means fake money that the colonists did not know if it would be worth anything on an ongoing basis. Today US Fiat paper money is “WORTHLESS”, not even worth the paper it is printed on. Then in 1913, a private trust of bankers took control of our US money system, and began to outlaw gold and silver as our lawful money system by causing an economic collapse in October 1929 following the Federal Reserve initiating a bankruptcy of the United States (and Utah) in 1930 under FDR, A banker as president, who then basically confiscated the American peoples gold and silver under the Emergency Banking Act, and causing the American people to accept worthless fiat paper money printed by the Federal Reserve.
3. Please explain your priorities if elected, as well as why you believe you are uniquely capable of achieving those priorities.
My Priorities are:
Get Utah back to a Constitutional honest money system.
Help our Utah Auditor to expose all the corruption going on in Utah State government.
Stop the Public/Private partnerships like MIDA from turning our government over to private corporations influence and control.
Vastly decrease or eliminate property taxes in Utah and vastly decrease Income taxes which are UnConstitutional also.
4. Please describe how you view the importance of compromise in politics and provide an example from your own experiences that highlights your perspective.
I am very open to understanding other legislators and the broader views of all people in Utah. Compromise is only necessary when it helps defend the Life, Liberty and Property of the common people.
Here is how I view the situation we are in right now: Utahs greatest Constitutional patriots have made very important points for us to follow:
A. If the people will not be governed by God, then they will be governed by Tyrants! God established our US Constitution and Utah’s Constitution is patterned closely with the US Constitution.
B. The only legitimate function of any Government is to defend the Life, Liberty, and Property of the common people. Everything else is Usurpation and Oppression!
5. How will you balance the views of the vocal public, your political party, and your own understanding and knowledge as an elected representative?
I am not obligated by my political party to vote any particular way, except to say that I am obligated to vote to defend my family (all 60 of them) and my neighbors in Davis County and Utah state, and to honor God to honor and protect the God given rights and privileges – the lives, liberties and property of all people within Utah and to stop Usurpation and Oppression by Utah Government. Most people, especially our children here in Utah need to be trained better in what maintains our rights and our freedom to choose our path in life, without violating other people’s God given rights and freedom to choose.
6. What is the best way for readers to contact you and/or get more information about your platform?
