Motorcycle shop owner’s family touched by support

By Collette Anderson - | Jun 4, 2013

Editor,

How do I put into so few words all of the emotion and gratitude I feel? It is crazy how our whole world can be torn to pieces in an instant by one person’s impatient, stupid mistake (May 31, “Owner of Ogden motorcycle shop mourned after fatal accident”). First, thank you, Shane. Deyne knew you were there with him and did all you could.

Thank you to the bystanders who comforted him with your hands and kind words, the EMTs, paramedics, police and hospital staff who did their best.Thank you to the Latter Day Misfits and their families. You leave me speechless! Thank you is so inadequate! I love you all very much! Thank you, Adam, for the memories and love you put into Deyne’s urn.Thank you to all of the family and friends who pulled together to make his “sendoff” an event to remember. Thank you to OPD for allowing us to grieve in our way and carry out Deyne’s wishes.

My sincere, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came on Saturday to show love and respect to Deyne and our families. Thank you for donating items, money and being there. Some were family, friends and mentors, classmates, acquaintances and customers.

I have met the most giving, incredible people this past week. I may not remember all of their names, but I want them to know, I will remember those moments forever!

Deyne’s children need to know their father through your eyes!

My life has changed forever for numerous reasons. I always thought I cared and helped others in need. But I am ashamed to say I truly didn’t — not in the capacity I have seen others show my daughter and grandchildren this past week. No longer can I sit back and be passive when it comes to others in need.

I hope there is some good that comes out of a tragedy like this. Deyne was always one of the first to step up and help. Let’s all keep Deyne’s legacy going by continuing to help others. Look around you and really see them, then do something about it!
