Dear Ogden City employees and residents,

It is my distinct pleasure and honor to address you as your mayor-elect of Ogden City. As I prepare to assume the role of Ogden City mayor, I am acutely aware of the challenges and responsibilities that come with this position and the importance of establishing a strong foundation of leadership in my first 100 days in office. With that in mind, I’ve spent my transition period meeting with community members, partners, stakeholders, and local, state and national elected officials, as well as staff members. Thanks to Bloomberg Philanthropies, I accepted an invitation to join 26 newly elected mayors from across the country at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government for the nonpartisan Program for Newly Elected Mayors: First 100 Days.

As a result of these efforts, I’m preparing my “Blueprint for a Stronger Ogden — Our First 100 Days Together.” This blueprint will outline a shared vision for Ogden, the priorities for my first 100 days in office, the core values that will inspire our city’s workforce, key policy initiatives that our administration will focus on, and early input from community members and stakeholders on those initiatives.

The diverse needs of our residents, coupled with the challenges of navigating complex political landscapes, necessitate a strategic and adaptive approach. My vision is anchored in creating opportunities and an environment where people can achieve their greatest potential, through their own commitment and hard work, with the collaborative support of our community. It includes robust community engagement, fiscally responsible economic development that emphasizes fiscal sustainability, small business support, a streamlined regulatory environment and attainable homeownership opportunities, building a robust infrastructure, ensuring the safety of our city, schools, neighborhoods and churches, and developing world-class parks and recreation opportunities, especially for our youth.

To accomplish these priorities, I recognize the importance of transparent communication, collaborative community building, and adept governance, leadership and crisis management to earn the trust of our community. As I approach my first 100 days in office, I want to share my commitment to a transition plan and blueprint that builds on past successes and focuses on setting a foundation for a collaborative, transparent and innovative era of governance.

Tackling these issues requires my efforts and the support and active participation of each of you. I invite every resident to engage with us — be it through attending City Council meetings, participating in surveys or volunteering for community projects. Our first steps include establishing strong and collaborative leadership at the city and in our community, setting a clear vision, launching key initiatives, and achieving early progress and victories for our people.

I am committed to these ideas and welcome your thoughts and feedback throughout our journey together. I am committed to providing regular updates on our progress, keeping you informed and involved through newsletters, community addresses, public meetings and social media channels. You can start by attending our inauguration event, which will be held in the Ogden City Council Chambers on Jan. 2 at noon. At that event, I’ll present the full blueprint, marking the beginning of a new era of collaboration, transparency and community building. I look forward to working with you to build a stronger Ogden and achieving our greatest individual and collective human potential together.

Sincerely,

Mayor-elect Ben Nadolski
