Letter: The upside of anger (Utah Edition)

Apr 22, 2022

I was recently at a “Meet and Greet” for School Board candidates and Adrian Scott Ellis (Davis County) related a story about how so many women were angry and frustrated by the downturn in women’s issues at the national level. Rather than let that anger consume them, they focused their efforts at changing the political landscape by running for office in record numbers. This was an extremely proactive and positive response to the “throw the bums out” mantra.

Now comes the ask, what are you are you going to do with your anger? When Legislators ignore the voice of the people year after year, usurp local control at every level, openly cater to special interests, and promote their political party over the needs of the people, how will you focus your anger? Political parties on both sides of the aisle are out of touch and show a complete lack of concern for the common people. I suggest that instead of complaining, you spend your time and money on candidates that will make a difference. Voters must refrain from sending back the same arrogant, hypocritical, and uncaring buffoons that now fill our Capitol. Now is the time to plan ways to replace those that refuse to heed the will of the people and place party and special interests first. Put your anger to work and make the world a better place for you and your children.
