Letter: Peaceful transition of power no longer a sacred principle
George Washington said, “Thus, what is most important in this grand experiment — in these United States — is not the election of the first president, but election of its second president. For the peaceful transition of power is what will separate this country from every other country in the world.” (As quoted in “The Founders Speech to a Nation in Crisis,” Chapter 6: Constitution, by Steven Rabb, Atlanta: Liberty for All Publishers, 2020)
ANYONE who believes the 2020 presidential election was — without any evidence whatsoever — “stolen,” and that the violence on January 6, 2021, was “justified,” is no friend of the Founding Fathers or of the Constitution. Sadly, after 224 years, because of a former president’s unfounded and illegal efforts to stay in office, the “peaceful transition of power,” no longer distinguishes our country from any other.
