My name is Taylor Knuth. People like me aren’t meant to run for Office. I grew up poor – very poor. My father wasn’t around much and my mom would sometimes work two jobs to support my sisters and me. Just this last Christmas, my mom told me she often had only $37 to spend at the end of the month after bills were paid.

I was never meant to go to college, buy a home, let alone run for mayor. But you, our community, taught me that so much is possible when we come together to make great things happen.

I’m running for mayor to get back to the basics of good government: community, connection, and character. For me, it’s the little things like bringing back our park benches and restoring our sidewalks: things that create community and provide essential services.

I could tell you about my career in public service, or all of the work that I have done for Ogden, but this isn’t about me. It is about you. Government works best with our community at the center of it, when the people most impacted by a decision have a seat at the table.

Our next mayor needs to be as comfortable on a front porch as they are at a pulpit. Of the community not above it. Our next mayor needs to know the names of the barbers and bartenders, the police officers and the postal workers, the service members and the school teachers.

That is exactly who I am, of this community.

We are just weeks away from the Primary election where Ogdenites will narrow the field to only two candidates, one of whom will ultimately become the next Mayor. I have been endorsed by organizations, elected officials, and community leaders, but I know that the only endorsement that matters is yours.

Our campaign is going to keep knocking on doors, keep making phone calls, and keep showing up to earn your vote.
