Letter: Ben Nadolski experienced and right for Ogden

Over the next few weeks Ogdenites will be choosing our next mayor. While local elections, like this race, don’t receive the media attention or have the intrigue that comes with presidential or congressional campaigns, the decision we make on November 21st is likely to have a more significant impact on our day-to-day lives than national politics. City elected officials determine when our trash is picked up, where new parks will be built, when we can water our lawns and so much more. With such an important decision looming, it is important that we choose an experienced and qualified candidate to lead our city for the next 4 years — I’m confident that person is Ben Nadolski.

Ben has a long and impressive history of service with 23 years of professional public administration, public policy, and public finance experience. He has served two terms on the Ogden City Council, with three of those years spent in council leadership. His steady and skilled hand has served Ogden well as he has led with kindness, mutual respect, and professionalism — rare commodities in today’s political climate.

Ben’s service to the state of Utah also highlights his deep understanding of government processes and expertise. During his tenure with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) he has overseen legislative affairs for the agency, which required building strong relationships with lawmakers, conflict resolution and working with elected officials to secure the agency’s $125 million annual budget. In his current role, Ben supervises DWR’s Northern Utah Region which includes 70 employees and $17-million annual operating budget. His diligent and extraordinary efforts were recognized last year when he was awarded DWR’s Employee of the Year for overseeing positive cultural changes and for his region’s strong performance.

Simply put, Ben knows how to get things done. Unlike his challenger, Ben will not need on the job training. Being mayor, especially of a big city, is not the time to begin honing your leadership skills. The talents and expertise Ben has developed from years of hard work and dedication will allow him to get things done.
