For those who are passionate about Ogden, we would like to share a little bit about our friend and coach Steven Van Wagoner. Steve is running for the Ogden City Council District 4 seat. Our family met Steve several years ago during soccer tryouts. Steve immediately made our family feel welcome and we could feel the passion Steve had for family, community, and the game of soccer.

Steve has a strong work ethic that is contagious. When he sets his mind on a task, those in his orbit seem to jump on board and work as a team to achieve the goal in mind. Steve ended up as the head coach of our oldest daughter’s team that year. One of the first team outings my daughter experienced that first year with Steve was not a soccer practice, but rather a community service project. Steve constantly encourages his teams to be community-centric and strive to give back.

Steve utilizes his time as a community volunteer in multiple ways and is a strong advocate for Ogden City. He recently helped bring awareness to our growing community’s need to preserve open spaces so Ogden can and will remain an outdoor oasis for recreation. Steve’s involvement with the youth of Ogden has also helped to open sports and healthy opportunities for thousands of kids via Ogden Soccer. A program that helps bring the community and our youth together centered around both recreational and competitive soccer.

Our family has a passion for all things Ogden. We loved growing up as kids and are now raising a family of our own in this wonderful community. Our childhood and youth development were shaped and molded by the people, community leaders, coaches, schools, and volunteers of this great community! We are proud to endorse Steven Van Wagoner as both a past, current, and future steward of Ogden City and would encourage you to give Steve your vote for Ogden City Council District 4 seat.
