Letter: Despite resistance, Ogden needs renewable energy plan

Sep 18, 2023

A couple of weeks ago David Willis published a very dubious piece on the Community Renewable Energy Program (CREP) that was full of errors. Happily, subsequent guest commentaries by Angela Choberka, Dan Dugan and Eli Davis have set the record straight. CREP is not compulsory -- it offers a choice to go to renewable power. CREP will reduce costs in the long run and increase them no more than 10% in the short. And, of course, CREP will help combat global warming and make our air healthier to breathe.

It must be remembered, however, that CREP is not an accomplished fact. Ogden leaders have taken initial steps toward CREP but have not fully committed to it. As citizens and voters, especially in light of the upcoming election, we must continue to remind them that CREP is important and that we want it implemented.
