Letter: Chopping off the snake’s head has had no effect

Feb 1, 2024

There was a great deal of euphoria on New Year’s Eve, and that day marked an end to one of Ogden’s most difficult administrations. An administration where transparency was a door mat, asking for accountability brought on the victim mentality, and truth was always subjective. Apparently, even when you cut off the head of the snake, the coils of the reptile continue to squeeze the life out of its victim. This is the story with the Dinosaur Park and the reptilian brained critters that run the place. Their efforts to displace and destroy the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah (WRCNU) continues even under the new Nadolski administration. Mara Brown, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer, gave notice to the WRCNU that the building they are moving from will be demolished after March 7th. This creates quite a problem, as the new WRCNU facility is not ready and may take several more months to become operational. The WRCNU has been told to place their goods into storage for the time being. This is no small effort, considering birds and baby beavers don’t care to be boxed up. This new push doesn’t pass the sniff test either and reeks of the stench of administrations past. The former Ogden City Animal Control building is the absolutely most perfect place to treat and care for Utah’s wildlife and bulldozing it to put up plastic dinosaurs makes no sense. I pray that some smart investigative reporter will unwrap this story and find out what is really going on. Saving Utah’s wildlife is much too important, and the mayor has done that for most of his life. I hope that Mayor Nadolski is that person to step up and do the right thing to save Utah’s wild.
