Letter: Electing new leaders for a better future in Weber County

Oct 28, 2024

Hello,

I’m Carey Van Wagoner, and I want to share why my husband, Steve Van Wagoner, is running for Weber County Commissioner.

As a Democrat in a supermajority state, Steve is often asked, “Why even try?” His answer comes from his strong belief in the power of the people of Weber County. He knows that voters are more thoughtful and engaged than politicians sometimes realize, and he’s seen the growing energy for change across the state.

Steve isn’t running for power or to play politics. He’s running because he believes Weber County’s future should be shaped by the people, not just one political party. His goal is to bring balance to the county government and ensure that every voice is heard, no matter their political affiliation.

Steve often asks, “Are we electing real public servants, or are we giving our power to politicians just because of a letter next to their name?” He believes we need leaders who represent the people–not their own interests. For Steve, Weber County isn’t just red or blue–it’s about coming together as one community to solve problems.

Steve wants to be a public servant who listens, who stands up for what’s right, and who respects differing opinions. He’s running as a Democrat, but more importantly, he’s running to bring fairness and balance to our county.

After 24 years of marriage, I’ve seen Steve’s heart, hard work, and commitment firsthand. He’s running because he wants to serve all of us and help Weber County thrive.

Thank you for considering Steve and supporting our vision for a stronger, united community.

With love,

Carey Van Wagoner
