Letter: Take care of the least among us
Dear Utah Congressional delegation:
Well, let’s not include Senator Lee. He has fully embraced the dark side and I feel is beyond redemption. You other five, Senator Curtis and our four representatives, I assume you are Christian so I would ask you each to read Matthew 25:34-46.
Jesus is telling us that when we provide comfort and relief to others, welcome the stranger, and visit those in need, we are actually doing those kindnesses to Him. We question as to when we have done these things to Him and He states “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
According to Jesus by doing these things to help others we could be counted on his right hand side and be blessed. And the reverse when we don’t do those things when we are capable we are rejecting the Savior and end up on His left hand side and are punished. Who are “the least among us”?
Well, among others they are the elderly retired couple who rely on Medicare and Medicaid to cover their health insurance needs; they are the single moms who receive SNAP benefits so that her kids don’t go hungry; and they also include the undocumented parents who are working and providing for their family so that their kids can get an education and improve their lives.
By you all voting to pass the Big Beautiful Bill, you all sure dropped the hammer on the “least of those among us”. When you look in the mirror each morning, just think what Mitch McConnell said: “they will get over it” and what Senator Ernst said: “well, for Heaven’s sake, we are all going to die.”
I wouldn’t worry what Jesus said about being punished. After all, He isn’t going to help you get reelected.
