Letter: Sen. Mike Lee is embarrassing Utah
As a resident of Ogden, I cannot stay silent while Senator Mike Lee continues to embarrass our state and damage our reputation nationwide. His actions do not reflect the values of integrity and responsibility that northern Utah families strive to live by.
In June, Lee made national headlines for mocking the murders of Minnesota lawmakers with flippant posts like “Nightmare on Waltz Street” (ABC News, June 19, 2025). He has a documented record of trying to overturn the 2020 election by lobbying for fake electors (The Week, April 16, 2022). In 2019, he was one of only two senators to block health care funding for 9/11 first responders (Washington Post, July 17, 2019). And this year, he tried to sell 3,200 square miles of Utah’s public lands — land that belongs to all of us, including future generations (AP News, Jan. 23, 2025).
Northern Utah deserves leadership that honors our community, protects our lands, and upholds democratic values. Instead, Lee has chosen partisanship and extremism at every turn.
For the sake of Utah’s future, Senator Mike Lee should resign.
