We really need to pace ourselves, people.

Because if this is what the rest of the summer is going to be like, none of us is getting out alive.

As evidenced by the listings in Friday’s GO! section — right here in the Standard-Examiner — there was a veritable buttload of stuff going on in the Ogden area this weekend. And when I say “buttload,” I’m talking about a specific, precise unit of dry measurement.

(HANDY CONVERSION CHART: Four pecks equals a bushel, 21.7 bushels equals a cubic yard, 13,080 cubic yards equals a hectare meter, and roughly three dozen hectare meters equals a buttload. That’s how much entertainment was coming at us this weekend.)

Indeed, this weekend alone, fun-loving folks were able to choose from any number of exciting events, including:

1. The Ogden Film Festival.

2. The Historic 25th Street Car & Motorcycle Show.

3. The First Friday Art Stroll.

4. The opening of the Golden Spoke trail network between Ogden and Provo.

5. The massive three-day Ogden Music Festival.

All this was in addition to the myriad other activities going on during a typical weekend in Ogden.

Amanda Johnson is an editorial assistant in the S-E newsroom. Her primary responsibility is compiling lists of upcoming events in Northern Utah. And there are plenty of lists to compile these days; Ogden’s summer happenings are keeping her hopping.

“It takes my entire work week — 29 hours a week,” she explained.

And as busy as this first weekend of summer was, Johnson says it doesn’t let up anytime soon.

“Next weekend is crazy, too,” she said. “And I know there are a lot of things for the weekend after, too. There’s just so much stuff going on.”

Among events coming in the next week are:

• The Flaming Lips, performing at the Ogden Twilight summer concert series, June 7, Ogden Amphitheater, 242 Historic 25th St., Ogden.
• Sounds of Freedom Festival, celebrating military personnel and their families, June 8-9, Layton Commons Park, 437 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton.
• Uintah U-Days, June 8-9, Uintah City Park, 2105 E. 6550 South, Uintah.
• Utah Wild Horse and Burro Festival, June 8-9, Legacy Events Center, 151 S. 1100 West, Farmington.
• Brigham City Arts Festival, June 9, Bill of Rights Plaza, 20 N. Main St., Brigham City.
• Talismania, customer appreciation event, June 9, Talisman Brewing Company, 1258 S. Gibson Ave., Ogden.
• Ogden Arts Festival, June 9-10, Ogden Amphitheater, 343 Historic 25th St., Ogden.
• Seventh Annual Car Show, June 8, George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home, 1102 N. 1200 West, Ogden.

And the rest of the summer doesn’t get any less interesting, with all manner of events and activities for both children and adults. Among the things to look forward to as the summer progresses:

• Outdoor and indoor movies at parks and other public places.
• Summer reading programs and other activities at community libraries.
• Live music throughout the summer at the Ogden Twilight concert series, including Sylvan Esso, Bonobo, and Chromeo.
• Farmers Market Ogden, plus other smaller farmers markets around Northern Utah.
• Various summer camps for kids.
• Weber State University’s Science in the Parks program, featuring interactive, playful and fun science activities in various parks throughout Ogden.
• WSU’s Arts in the Parks, which is like Science in the Parks, only with art.
• Juneteenth, the annual celebration of African-American history.
• Blues, Brews & BBQ, the free Sunday afternoon concerts at Snowbasin Resort. The resort also offers Movies on the Mountain, a series of free outdoor films.
• Summer Nights with the Stars, the outdoor concert series at Kenley Amphitheater in Layton. Davis Arts Council also offers the Free Family Film Series and free Sunday night concerts.
• Ogden Pride Festival, supporting the LGBT community in Utah.
• Ogden Valley Balloon Festival, offering entertainment, food, vendors and balloon rides.
• A variety of events held on Antelope Island throughout the summer, including SpiderFest and Batty About Bats.
• Various star parties on clear, dark nights.
• Yearly heritage festivals and city celebrations throughout the region.
• All the July 4th events.
• All the Pioneer Days events.

And I’m quite certain I’ve forgotten to mention dozens of other things waiting just around the corner this summer.
