Idaho man dies in I-84 rollover in Box Elder County
BOX ELDER COUNTY — An Idaho man died in a single-car rollover on Interstate 84 Tuesday morning, according to police.
At 8:01 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, Utah Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of the crash on westbound I-84 near mile marker 29 in Box Elder County, a news release from UHP said.
A man identified as Jay B. Heusser, 58, of Preston, Idaho, was driving a Dodge truck when its front-left tire separated from its wheel, according to the release.
That caused the truck to drive over the median and cross through both eastbound lanes, the release said. The truck then rolled several times down an embankment and came to rest upright on its wheels.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but was ejected from the vehicle during the multiple rollovers, dying instantly when he landed near the vehicle, the release said.
His truck was hauling two large containers of what appeared to be liquid feed for cattle, the release said.
