Police identify Cache County man killed in farming accident
CACHE COUNTY — Police have released the identity of a Cache County man who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, after getting caught in the PTO (power take off) shaft of a tractor at Rosehill Dairy in Hyrum.
Javier Cruz, 33 and of Cache County, dismounted the tractor, which was pulling a separate piece of equipment, and got caught in the PTO shaft, Sheriff Chad Jensen said in a press release.
Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel responded to a report of the farm accident at around 5:40 p.m. at 300 E. 6600 South.
Cruz died of his injuries at the scene, Jensen said.
“The investigation of this incident shows this case as being a tragic accident,” he said. “The victim will be sent to the State Medical Examiners Office to determine the exact cause of death.”
