Fridge, packages stolen in Weber County; Roy woman arrested

By Brett Hein, Standard-Examiner Staff - | Sep 14, 2016

ROY — Detectives have arrested a Roy woman after reports of items disappearing outside houses in Weber County over the last two days.

Augustina Hinton, 34, was booked Wednesday on two charges of theft and one charge of mail theft in connection to missing items in Roy and Hooper, according to a statement from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

Through Monday and Tuesday, the sheriff’s office and Roy police received several calls about missing packages, as well as a small fridge lifted from a carport. Surveillance video from one home also showed a woman unscrewing a light bulb from a porch and taking it, police say.

After reviewing surveillance from several homes and receiving tips from area residents, detectives say they identified Hinton as the suspect and arrested her near her home Wednesday.

According to police, more charges may be filed as police investigate other cases, and others with overdue deliveries can call Weber detectives at 801-778-6631 to report the occurrence.

Augustina Hinton, 34 of Roy, was booked Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, on two counts of theft and one count of mail theft by detectives from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
