OGDEN — An alleged kidnapping attempt Friday night led to a police chase that ended in Clinton with the arrest of a parole fugitive from Weber County.

Ogden police responded to an aggravated kidnapping report at the Walmart on Wall Avenue about 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, according to a Facebook post from the police department.

“The victim was able to get away and the suspect fled in a vehicle,” the post said. Police began following the suspect, traveling into Davis County.

The chase ended in Clinton after the suspect drove onto a dead-end road near 1400 N. 2900 West. Police said the driver was then taken into custody “without incident” and has since been identified as a reportedly “armed and dangerous” parole fugitive, Emanuel Carranza.

According to previous reporting by the Standard-Examiner, Carranza was arrested in June 2016 on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with a gang-related shooting in Ogden that ended with SWAT response.
