2 teenage boys dead after motorcycle crash in Box Elder County
CORINNE — A head-on motorcycle crash in Box Elder County killed two boys and injured another.
Dispatchers received a call of a vehicle crash around 8:55 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.
When police arrived they found two dirt bikes had hit head-on and three teenage boys — ages 14, 15 and 16 — were involved in the crash.
The 14- and 15-year-olds were driving and the 16-year-old was a passenger, the release said. The 15-year-old died at the scene.
The 14-year-old was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City but died “shortly after arrival,” according to the news release.
After being flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center and listed in stable condition, the 16-year-old was taken to University Hospital in Salt Lake City. The press release did not have an updated condition of the 16-year-old.
Police found that both drivers were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, the release says.
Parents and grandparents of the victims were at the scene of the crash, according to the release.
Neither of the motorcycles had headlights, the release says. Investigators did not find any immediate evidence of impairment as of Sunday night.
