Clinton man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting girl over several years
FARMINGTON — A Clinton man is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl multiple times over the past several years.
Nathan Marshall Tracy, 42, is charged with two counts of sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony, and two counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.
On June 1, the Clinton Police Department was notified of a 12-year-old girl who was assaulted by Tracy, according to a probable cause statement. Police later learned that the abuse started when the girl was 8 or 9 years old.
A few days later, the girl was interviewed at the Davis County Children’s Justice Center. She told investigators that she had been violated multiple times by Tracy. The girl told investigators that Tracy would go in her room at night, take off all her clothing and assault her, according to the probable cause statement.
The girl said that this happened “more than once” and the first time it happened was when she was 8 or 9.
Police were also notified that Tracy’s family asked the victim’s family to not go to the police because Tracy had accepted a job in New Hampshire and would be moving away in less than 45 days, according to the statement. Tracy’s house is said to be on the market and is supposed to be “sold and closed on shortly,” the statement says.
Tracy was taken into custody without incident by Clinton Police on Wednesday.
Because of Tracy’s planned move out of state, he is being held without bail at the Davis County Jail.
Investigators also said they did not know if Tracy had access to other children that “could possibly be victims or become victims,” according to the probable cause statement.
Tracy has yet to have an initial court date set in Farmington’s 2nd District Court.
