Woman injured after shooting in Roy

ROY — At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the Roy Police Department responded to reports of a gunshot. According to the department, a female was shot at in the parking lot of the Sinclair convenience store at 5190 S. 1900 West.

The victim was shot in the side transported to the hospital and the suspect is currently in custody, according to the police. According to Roy police officer Stuart Hackworth, the victim was able to identify her shooter. The two did know each other prior to the shooting, though the specifics of their relationship are unknown to police as of Thursday evening.

The suspect was taken into custody after being located in Davis County approximately 45 minutes after the shooting occurred, Hackworth said. Charges had not yet been determined.
