Wyatt and Taryn Pearce were sought by South Ogden police on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. The mother allegedly took the boy in violation of a child custody order and was then wanted on a charge of child kidnapping.

SOUTH OGDEN — Police on Wednesday were looking for a woman who allegedly kidnapped her 4-year-old son in violation of a court’s child custody order.

South Ogden police said in a news release Tuesday that the child was not considered to be in danger, so an Amber Alert was not issued. But she allegedly took the boy rather than turn him over to his father as ordered in 2nd District Court, so she is now sought on a charge of first-degree felony child kidnapping.

Taryn Pearce, 37, and Wyatt Pearce, 4, stayed at a local hotel with her boyfriend the night of April 4 and left the next morning. Police questioned the boyfriend.

Detective Jeremy Nelson said Wednesday morning that police had received tips and have asked some other police agencies to help check them out.
