OGDEN — Six people were displaced by an apartment fire Tuesday that left the building heavily damaged, the Ogden Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded at about 5:45 a.m. to a report of smoke at a three-story structure in the 2200 block of Jefferson Avenue, according to a news release. Crews evacuated residents and no one was injured in the blaze.

The fire apparently began in a basement unit and reached the attic before firefighters put it out. The Ogden fire marshal is investigating the cause.

Firefighters from the Ogden and Riverdale fire departments responded to the fire. The release said the building likely is a total loss.
