BOUNTIFUL — A man allegedly stabbed and seriously wounded two women in separate attacks in Bountiful on Thursday evening and told officers he wanted to commit other assaults, according to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Kane Fairbank, 18, was booked into the Davis County Jail in Farmington on two counts of second-degree felony attempted murder, one count of first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and two counts of felony obstruction of justice.

Fairbank allegedly lured an 18-year-old woman to Mueller Park, having met her several days earlier on a dating app, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Friday. Just after 6:30 p.m., Fairbank allegedly stabbed the woman several times. The woman fought back, broke away and got help from some people nearby, including two nurses and an emergency medical technician.

Fairbank drove away and left his vehicle at a gas station, then walked to the area of 550 North and 500 West, where he approached a 64-year-old woman, apparently a stranger, and allegedly stabbed her several times. She fought back as well and got help from other people in the area.

The sheriff’s office said a witness detained Fairbank until first responders arrived.

“Fairbank told detectives he intended to carry out the attacks and had planned for other assaults,” the sheriff’s office said.

Both women were in stable condition at local hospitals on Friday.
