RIVERDALE — Police on Friday arrested a child-rape suspect who had been the subject of a public fugitive alert.

Assistant Chief Casey Warren of the Riverdale Police Department said Bryce Tyler, 53, was apprehended in a traffic stop and booked into the Weber County Jail on suspicion of child rape, forcible sodomy of a child, aggravated forcible sexual abuse of a child and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Investigators called out the Ogden Metro SWAT Team on Thursday to serve a search warrant at a residence, but he was not there. Riverdale police then put out an appeal to the public to be on the lookout for Tyler. The alert described Tyler as possibly armed and dangerous.

State court records show Tyler was most recently convicted in 2019 of third-degree felony failure to register as a sex offender. He was put on probation in that case.
