Fire trucks on sceneEDEN — A blaze Thursday torched around 4.5 acres of largely open land near the Eden area in the Ogden Valley.
Weber Fire District Fire Warden Richard Cooper said a report came in to the fire department around 3 p.m. Thursday of a grass fire in the area of the 3800 block of Eagle Ridge Drive. “It was threatening homes,” he said, though no evacuations were necessary.
By around 4:20 p.m., he said the fire was contained, though firefighters remained on the scene. Around 4.5 acres were torched, causing some damage to trees and a homeowner association common area, but no structures.
The fire is under investigation but authorities think it was human caused, Cooper said.
Firefighters from the Ogden Fire Department, the North View Fire District and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands assisted the Weber Fire District.
