TOOELE — Two men have been charged in the shooting death of an Ogden man whose body was found in sagebrush along Interstate 80 in Tooele County on Feb. 15.

According to charging documents in 3rd District Court, Anthony Bracamonte, 42, was shot numerous times on Feb. 12. After an investigation assisted by agencies including the Ogden Police Department, State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested two suspects on Saturday.

Alejandro Manuel Moore, 30, is charged with murder and felony discharge of a firearm, both first-degree felonies; second-degree felony obstruction of justice; third-degree felony abuse or desecration of a human body; and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to assault.

David Tenis, 32, is charged with two second-degree counts of obstruction of justice.

An SBI probable cause statement said the three men were at the scene of a tumultuous dispute at Bracamonte’s Park Boulevard apartment on Feb. 11. Bracamonte shared the apartment with his girlfriend and their 1 year-old child.

Ogden police were called to the apartments that day and officers saw Bracamonte get into a car allegedly driven by Moore. Surveillance video at a nearby convenience store later showed Bracamonte, stumbling and apparently intoxicated, buying beer and getting back into the car with the other men.

The SBI said agents interviewed Bracamonte’s girlfriend, who told them Bracamonte had said the men planned to go to Wendover. After further investigation, Moore was arrested in Washington County. Tenis was arrested after he was asked to go to SBI headquarters in Salt Lake County for an interview.

According to charging documents, Moore and Tenis gave conflicting reports of what happened.

Moore said the three men and Moore’s mother headed toward Wendover. In Tooele County, Bracamonte allegedly acted inappropriately with the woman. Moore stopped the car and told Bracamonte to get out, and they left him there in the early hours of Feb. 12, Moore said.

Tenis told agents that Bracamonte became belligerent with both men and was hitting them in the car. Tenis said he and Bracamonte got out and were fighting on the side of the road when Moore allegedly shot Bracamonte several times. He said Moore than walked up to Bracamonte, lying on the ground, and allegedly shot him several more times.

The SBI agents said a dozen 9 mm shell casings were found near the body.

Tenis said he and Moore later on Feb. 12 disposed of the handgun and the clothing they had been wearing when Bracamonte was killed.
