OGDEN — The Weber County Jail has reported an inmate death and attributed it to natural causes.

According to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate was found unresponsive around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

“The death is currently under investigation and will follow the Weber County Critical Incident Protocol with the Weber County Attorney’s Office heading the investigation,” the release said. “Initial investigation shows that the individual suffered from a medical episode that was not self-inflicted.”

No further details were made available Wednesday.

Tuesday’s death marks the third reported at the jail this year. The Standard-Examiner reported the death of an inmate June 28 as a result of a “medical episode.” Another inmate reportedly died of suicide in April.
