SOUTH OGDEN — A teacher at a South Ogden day care has been terminated from his position and arrested after admitting to abusing one of the students.

Tanner Wayne Dobson, 30, Ogden, was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, both first-degree felonies, and obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the parents of a 5-year-old girl reported that their child allegedly was sexually abused by one of her teachers while attending Progressive Preschool and Child Care Center.

“The child was interviewed at the local Children’s Justice Center in Ogden and disclosed that Mr. Tanner had taken her upstairs while at gymnastics, had her take her clothes and undies off, and took pictures,” the affidavit said. “The child disclosed that Mr. Tanner touched her one time and pointed to her perineal area.”

The affidavit states that Dobson was located at his home in Ogden and taken to the South Ogden Police Department for questioning. Dobson was advised of his rights and reportedly waived them before admitting to separating the child from the group and taking her upstairs where he convinced the child to take off her clothes and filmed two videos of her. Dobson also admitted to touching the child, the report says.

“Tanner stated that he was made aware of the allegations by the daycare owner and that his employment was terminated,” the affidavit said. “Tanner admitted to deleting the two videos of the child and doing a factory reset on his phone to delete the videos.”

Dobson, according to court documents, is being held at the Weber County Jail without bail.
