RIVERDALE — Few details are available following an incident in which police fired their weapons in Riverdale on Sunday afternoon, though some accounts indicate a man was killed.

According to a press release on the Ogden Police Department’s Facebook page, an incident unfolded around 3:42 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of West Riverdale Road.

“Officers assigned to the Weber-Morgan Narcotic Strike Force and Ogden Metro Gang Unit were assisting the Utah County Major Crimes Unit in the apprehension of an attempted homicide suspect in the area of 700 W Riverdale Road.” the release said. “The incident resulted in an officer-involved shooting involving three Ogden Police Officers and one Pleasant Grove Police Officer.”

The release adds that the Weber County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol Team is conducting an independent investigation and a press conference has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ogden Police Department.

The press release does not say whether any injuries were sustained by the suspect or the officers involved, though a KSL report, citing Lt. Michael Rounkles of the Ogden Police Department, said a male suspect was dead. Another man also reportedly was detained by officers.

Lt. William Farr told the Standard-Examiner on Monday that no more information will be released until Tuesday’s press conference.
