Weber County Sheriff’s Office investigating death of 12-year-old child

WEST HAVEN — A 12-year-old West Haven child is dead after deputies from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “medical call” Tuesday afternoon.
Per a release from the sheriff’s office, the call was received at approximately 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies assisted family members in performing CPR on the child until emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene.
The child was ultimately transported via ambulance to a local hospital “but unfortunately passed away,” according to the release.
Lt. Terance Lavely of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office told the Standard-Examiner the cause of child’s death — and the circumstances that led up to it — are currently under investigation.
Due to the their age, the child’s identity will not be released.
“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family; our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve this loss,” the release stated.
Lavely added that no other information would be released at this time.
