No injuries reported in Ogden garage fire Monday evening

OGDEN — No injuries were reported after a fire destroyed a garage in Ogden on Monday evening.

According to a press release from the Ogden City Fire Department, fire crews were summoned to a fire in the 1600 block of Oakcrest Drive around 5:25 p.m. Monday.

“Upon arrival, units discovered smoke coming from the garage of a single-family home,” the release said. “Firefighters acted swiftly and aggressively to contain the blaze, preventing it from extending into the main residence. The home was safely evacuated as a precautionary measure. Due to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the crews on scene, the fire was successfully confined to the garage.”

The release adds that the Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire and that damage estimates are around $76,000.

“We commend the professionalism and teamwork displayed by all responding personnel, whose actions helped protect the home and the surrounding community,” the release said.

In addition to Ogden City Fire Department, the South Ogden City Fire Department provided assistance.
