Multiple agencies were involved in a standoff with a Hyrum man who claimed to have killed his wife Sunday, June 29, 2025.HYRUM — The Cache County Attorney’s Office has released the identities of a man and a woman who were found dead after a standoff in Hyrum on Sunday, as well as new details about the events that led up to the incident.
According to a release, the bodies of Jorge Andrade and Holly Andrade were discovered in their residence at the Valley View Estates Mobile Home Park.
Early Sunday morning, dispatch received a call from a woman who reportedly said her brother, Jorge Andrade, had confessed to killing his wife and was waiting for police to arrive. A deputy on patrol was alerted to the potential homicide and responded to Andrade’s residence, where he was quickly fired upon.
“The deputy immediately took evasive action in his vehicle, passing by the residence, seeking cover further down the street,” the release stated. “The deputy called for backup and additional officers and deputies began to arrive from Logan City and other areas of the county.”
An “immediate action” SWAT team was deployed and also came under fire; officers returned fire and took cover, per the release. After “some minutes,” an explosion detonated inside the trailer and no additional shots were fired or heard by police.
In an attempt to assess the situation inside the residence, an armored car with a ram attachment was deployed to breach the structure. Another armored car, with additional SWAT support from Ogden Metro, also arrived and was able to create large enough breaches to move drones into the home.
Both Jorge and Holly Andrade were found dead inside. Holly Andrade reportedly was found with multiple knife wounds.
The responding officers’ use of force is currently under investigation by the Northern Utah Critical Incident Protocol Team.
On Monday, Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen praised responding deputies and regional law enforcement partners for their combined efforts.
“We very, very much appreciate the partnerships we have with all the agencies and their willingness to come up and help us on a pretty major critical incident,” Jensen told the Standard-Examiner. “It couldn’t have been resolved without their help.”
