OGDEN — Police are investigating what they’ve dubbed a homicide after a 48-year-old woman died following a “physical altercation” Thursday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Ogden Police Department, officers were called around 1:09 p.m. to a reported disturbance on Washington Boulevard. Police and the Weber County Crime Scene Investigation unit were later seen at an area blocked off by yellow police tape at the Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community at 1440 North near Harrisville.
There, officers discovered the woman, who reportedly bore “critical injuries consistent with a knife assault.”
The release states that officers rendered life-saving efforts to the woman until medical responders arrived at the scene and she was taken to the hospital, but she died from the injuries.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the woman was the same person who initially called police.
A 25-year-old man was detained at the scene, though his name was not provided. The release did not say whether the man has been arrested.
Residents in the area reported not noticing anything out of the ordinary.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
