OGDEN — An Ogden man is being held without bail at the Weber County Jail after allegedly killing his mother Thursday afternoon at the Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community, located near the 1400 block of north Washington Boulevard.

Alec Conrad Martinez, 25, was arrested by the Ogden City Police Department and booked on suspicion of aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, and disarming a police officer, a third-degree felony.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, dispatchers received a frantic phone call from a woman screaming, “He has a knife,” at approximately 1 p.m. That was followed by multiple screams of “Alec,” and other sounds described in the arrest document as “distressing commotions.” Dispatch was reportedly unable to speak with or obtain additional information from the caller but pinged the phone to determine the location of the disturbance.

Officers were subsequently dispatched to the scene, during which the call remained active. Per the affidavit, a man eventually got on the line and reportedly told dispatch, “I think I killed my mom.”

The suspect, later identified as Martinez, exited his home while holding a bloody knife as officers arrived, according to the arrest document. He initially refused to comply with officers’ instructions to drop the weapon, per the affidavit, before finally tossing it to the ground.

As officers attempted to place Martinez in the back of a patrol car following his arrest, he allegedly grabbed a Taser from an officer’s belt. After a “brief struggle,” officers reclaimed the device, placed Martinez into the vehicle and transported him to the county jail, according to the affidavit.

The victim, who was determined to be Martinez’s mother but whose name was not listed, was found on the porch of the home with “severe lacerations” to her neck and other areas of her body, “consistent with injuries from a knife,” according to the arrest document. After receiving medical aid on the scene, she was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

Starting at $4.32/week.
